1931

Irving Zaslow, born in Russia escaped the Pogroms and moved to the USA and started Jaffe’s Art Linen a home goods store in central Philadelphia

1945 to 1950

Jerry, Spencer and Arnold Zaslow (sons of Irving) graduated the Wharton School and joined the family business.

1952

Zaslow Family starts American Textile Distributors (ATD-AMERICAN)

1959

Family closes retail stores to concentrate on distribution business and moves to a new 12,000 sq ft corporate headquarters in Philadelphia.

1964

ATD-AMERICAN supplies all of the flags for President Lyndon Johnson's inauguration.

1979

ATD-AMERICAN moves to newly renovated 19,000 sq ft corporate headquarters in Cheltenham Township a suburb of Philadelphia

1981 to 1991

6 members of the 3rd generation of the Zaslow Family join the company

1991

Established their first 27,000 sq ft bed sheet manufacturing plant called Augusta Mills in Elkton VA

1998

Began supplying fabric to the National Industries for the Blind who make pillowcases for the US Navy.

2001

Augusta Mills ceases operations and Thomaston Mills manufacturing facility and brand name are purchased.  All bedding is now sold under the Thomaston Mills brand. Thomaston mills a 250,000 sq ft manufacturing facility was founded by R.E Hightower in 1899 and is the oldest domestic sheet mill in the USA.

2004

2008

Awarded the Congressional Exporter Excellence Award – Thomaston has been exporting since 1995 and serves over 70 counties on 6 continents

2014

Robert Zaslow, 3rd generation family member, becomes President of Thomaston Mills and ATD-AMERICAN

2018

80,000 sq foot Palmetto Finishing in Easley South Carolina is purchased to expand Thomaston’s manufacturing capabilities in bleaching, dying and finishing fabric. Renamed to Thomaston Finishing.

2019

Started our new Direct to Consumer Brand American Blossom Linens. 4th generation helps with photos on website

2020 to 2022

When imported products were not available during the COVID pandemic Thomaston Mills worked overtime at both plants to supply many hospitality and healthcare properties such as the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas with bedding Made in the USA.  Fabric and bedding was also donated to various local organizations to help with mask making and supply shortages.

Thomaston has 30,000,0000 yds of fabric ready to make products and over 70,000 dz sheets and pillowcases in stock.
